FCZD Board of Supervisors Tours White River Restoration Site

The Pierce County Flood Control Zone District Board of Supervisors recently toured the White River Restoration Project in Sumner—one of Puget Sound’s largest flood protection and salmon habitat restoration efforts. Led by the City of Sumner and supported by multiple partners, the project restores over 200 acres of habitat, reconnects the river to its historic floodplain, and reduces flood risks to people and infrastructure. Funded in part by the District, these improvements help protect $1.14 billion in property value, 16,000 jobs, and the region’s environmental health.
