  1. Do you have questions about flood insurance or maps?

Property owners with a federally backed mortgage are required to have flood insurance when the house is mapped in a high-risk flood hazard area. However, more than 20% of flood claims come from properties outside of high-risk flood zones. Anyone in Pierce County can purchase flood insurance since every community in the County is a member of the National Flood Insurance Program. Rates will vary depending on many factors such as elevation and participation in FEMA’s Community Rating System.
